Instagram and Pinterest proved that an image is worth a thousand words. When Pinterest first appeared in public in 2010, no one denied it will be one of the leading social media networks. Why? Because it’s simple, creative, inspiring and fun. It didn’t take long for marketers to realize that Pinterest can help boost a brand in more ways than one.

Here are 5 great reasons that will make you rethink your social media strategy:

1. Pinterest beats Twitter

According to a recent report conducted by Pew Internet & American Life Project, 73 percent of online adults now use a social networking site of some kind and 21 percent are on Pinterest. The data shown in the report suggests that Pinterest is one of the fastest-growing networks. Between 2012 and 2013, Pinterest gained more members than Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn or Twitter. The study clearly showed that Pinterest has beaten out Twitter for the third place.

2. Drives more traffic

Pinterest is more effective at driving traffic that any other social media network. According to RJMetrics, more than 80% of pins are repined. It’s very possible that your potential costumer will pin your product in one of their boards. For companies that sell “tangible” products like accessories, gadgets or other “visual” items, Pinterest is a lead generator.

3. Every image has a link

Using the “Pin it” button on your website, every pinned image will have a link back to the source. This allows your pinners to visit and re-visit your page, read your content with just one click. Also, when you update your website with new information and has an image next to it, Pinterest always notes down the original source and links back to it.

4. Sharing is caring

Pinterest members have the option to login with one of their Facebook or Twitter profile. This is a great way for users to pin an image, not only on one of their boards, but also share that image on their other social media accounts. That makes more eyes getting access to your content.

5. Show your brand’s personality

The way you can connect with your clients or your potential customers on Pinterest is different from Facebook or Twitter. Pinterest allows you to create your own style, to show your brand’s personality and engage with your followers in a new and different way. Being able to upload video content has created new ways to market your brand on Pinterest. We are no longer limited to share static images, but we can also transmit a message through a video.

According to BrandPoint, 93 percent of marketers use social media to market their business. That being said, it’s essential for companies to realize that, to engage with and attract potential customers, they have to be present and explore multiple social networks.
